WILL THE AUDIOQUEST DRAGONFLY WORK SEAMLESSLY WITH LINUX STUFF ?

We like the Audioquest Dragonfly. It has worked seamlessly (no driver install required) with Windows Vista, 7 & 8. It sounds extremely good for a simple in plug in DAC in the £130 price range.

We were curious to see if the Dragaonfly works with a couple of Linux based systems that we use for streaming music; the Synology DS213j Server and the Raspberry Pie.

COMPARING APPLES AND A DIY Rpi BASED AUDIO PROJECT

We have liked the Apple Airport Express for many years now and it has always been our Best In Class Music Renderer. The only major downside is as an apple device it doesn’t support DNLA (without a hack).

We have been looking in recent years for a DNLA based device (that will support Airplay too) that gives good reliable network performance along with good sound quality. Ease of use and configuration have also been key factors in this search.

There are many interesting “DIY” projects out there using Linux based software, low cost mini computers (e.g. Raspberry Pi) and mini computer compatable DAC’s

One partcular interesting combination Volumio Software + Raspberry Pi + IQAudio PI DAC has been chosen for our back to back comparison
